We believe that Architecture is not as much about buildings, as it is about space, how the design of planes, surfaces, openings, pathways, and associated systems define and influence space, and the quality and character of the activities that occur about, upon, and within the field of that influence.
We believe that we have a responsibility to coexist with the patterns -- and limitations -- of nature. Environmentally-responsible design solutions are intrinsic to every project that we undertake, with an emphasis on appropriate, straightforward, low-cost, low-maintenance energy-efficient solutions.
Since 1981 Wright and Hammer Architects has established a reputation as a creative, energetic Design Firm, dedicated to Community Architecture, and known for attention to detail throughout each phase of every project. Our Practice is specifically committed to providing high-quality Architectural services to non-profit organizations, educational, cultural, civic and public facilities, for projects that contribute positively to the quality of life in communities throughout New Mexico. Our work has included site-feasibility analyses, Master Planning, historic preservation, adaptive reuse and renovations, as well as new facilities and exterior spaces.
Our projects afford us an opportunity not only to create, but to teach. Building systems that reveal themselves aesthetically and functionally, connections between the natural and built environments, demonstrations to students covering architectural history, construction materials, structural forces, and how their own education can relate to architecture, engineering, construction, art, and technology are frequently featured in our designs and services.
